It is well known that a sure way to age prematurely is to take on the task of developing a web page that has to work in more than one browser.
Simon and Becky will show how CSS2 and XHTML reduce the strain on your mental health by making cross-browser web design not only possible but simple. You'll learn why it is important to update your web skills to include these technologies, and how they affect the accessibility and robustness of your site.
You'll also be refreshed on some of the features of HTML 4 that deserve to be better known, and how to design liquid layout pages without tables.
Simon and Becky will go over the new and not so new features of CSS2, and how to get around the various browser bugs features. You'll learn how to separate structure from presentation, why structure is so important, when to consider hybrid ccs/table layouts versus all css layouts, how to target different output devices with the same html, and how to be (mostly) backwards compatible, and entirely forwards-compliant.
A talk packed with working examples and code examples.
