Community controlled languages - Perl - PHP - Python
YAML(tm) is an international collaboration to make a data serialization language which is both human readable and computationally powerful.
Kendall Grant Clark at xml.com says:
If you have been late to adopt XML as a matter of policy, or if you have been having second thoughts about its costs for your projects, YAML is definitely worth a long, serious look. You may well find that it imposes less overhead, both on the people who produce it by hand, and the people who program computers to produce and consume it.
Tim's talk will provide a broad overview of YAML, as well as some examples of using it to exchange data between Open Source programming languages such as PHP and Python.
